Sorbifer Durules consists of Iron (Ferrous Sulfate), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid).
Iron (Ferrous Sulfate) - A metallic element found in certain minerals, in nearly all soils, and in mineral waters. It is an essential constituent of hemoglobin, cytochrome, and other components of respiratory enzyme systems. Its chief functions are in the transport of oxygen to tissue (hemoglobin) and in cellular oxidation mechanisms. Depletion of Sorbifer Durules (Iron (Ferrous Sulfate)) stores may result in iron-deficiency anemia. Sorbifer Durules (Iron (Ferrous Sulfate)) is used to build up the blood in anemia.
Indication: Used in preventing and treating iron-deficiency anemia.
The major activity of supplemental Sorbifer Durules (Iron (Ferrous Sulfate)) is in the prevention and treatment of Sorbifer Durules (Iron (Ferrous Sulfate)) deficiency anemia. Sorbifer Durules (Iron (Ferrous Sulfate)) has putative immune-enhancing, anticarcinogenic and cognition-enhancing activities.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) - A six carbon compound related to glucose. It is found naturally in citrus fruits and many vegetables. Ascorbic acid is an essential nutrient in human diets, and necessary to maintain connective tissue and bone. Its biologically active form, vitamin C, functions as a reducing agent and coenzyme in several metabolic pathways. Sorbifer Durules (Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)) is considered an antioxidant.
Indication: Used to treat Sorbifer Durules (Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)) deficiency, scurvy, delayed wound and bone healing, urine acidification, and in general as an antioxidant. It has also been suggested to be an effective antiviral agent.
Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) is a water-soluble vitamin indicated for the prevention and treatment of scurvy, as ascorbic acid deficiency results in scurvy. Collagenous structures are primarily affected, and lesions develop in bones and blood vessels. Administration of ascorbic acid completely reverses the symptoms of ascorbic acid deficiency.
